At Culverhill School, we recognise that everyone needs emotional
wellbeing support from time to time. We take a proactive, positive approach through our specialist PSHE curriculum and whole-school strategies.
Our Approach
Our staff work closely with pupils to support emotional literacy and understanding of social situations. When concerns arise, class teams refer pupils to our in-house support team, which includes Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA) and early play skills practitioners, led by the Senior Emotional Wellbeing Lead.
Intervention Options Include:
- Advice and guidance on classroom strategies
- One-off support sessions
- Small group work (2–4 pupils)
- One-to-one targeted support
Support from Daria Makarowska – Education Emotional Wellbeing Practitioner (EMHP)
Daria visits Culverhill School fortnightly. Her role supports the emotional wellbeing of the whole school community. A range of workshops for parents and carers is planned for the next academic year.
Further Support
If a pupil's emotional wellbeing continues to decline after interventions, the Senior Emotional Wellbeing Lead may refer to external agencies such as:
- School Health Nurse Team
- Emotional Wellbeing in Schools Team (EWST)
- Locality CAMHS
- LD CAMHS (for pupils with more complex learning needs)
